It's Impossible To Block Mark Zuckerberg And Priscilla Chan On Facebook, But Not Why You Think
People hate Facebook's power couple so much the systems think it's a harassment campaign.
If you don¡¯t like Mark Zuckerberg and don¡¯t want his stupid announcements messing up your timeline, sorry but there¡¯s no way for you to avoid him.
According to a report in The Independent, both the Facebook CEO and his wife Priscilla Chan can¡¯t be blocked on the social media platform. That¡¯s because they¡¯ve been blocked so many times now the system just can¡¯t process it.
If you try to hit the Block button on either of their profiles, you¡¯ll receive an error message saying the ¡°profile can¡¯t be blocked right now.¡± That¡¯s not because the Facebook power couple are receiving any sort of special treatment. Instead, it seems they¡¯ve actually been blocked so many times it¡¯s triggered automated systems that were already in place.
Zuckerberg tends to post quite a bit on Facebook about major events in his personal life, advancements at the company, as well as the various town hall meetings. All these posts are pushed forward by Facebook¡¯s algorithm until they get on pretty much everyone¡¯s timeline, which in the past has led to disgruntled users slamming the block button.
Then, in 2010, Facebook¡¯s automated systems instituted a block ban on Zuckerberg and Chan. Basically, any one person can only be blocked a certain number of times (a very large number of times) before Facebook stops letting that be an option. Supposedly it¡¯s a protection put in place for certain outlier incidents, like a viral campaign instructing people to all block one user.
So if you don¡¯t like hearing about charity work, new updates, or anything Zuckerberg in general, sorry but you¡¯re just stuck with him.
