Microsoft Is Killing Off MS Paint, Deleting The Iconic Program From Future Versions Of Windows
The iconic program is being shoved into the backseat this update, and may even be removed as a default program very soon.
RIP Microsoft Paint. Thanks for all the childhood memories!
Time and tide wait for no man, and either does the steady progress of technology. As Microsoft re-invents itself and Windows, an iconic program that gave us hours of entertainment as children may be lost forever.
When Microsoft releases its upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update in a few weeks, steel your heart for the brutal blow it will bring. The software giant has listed a number of programs that are either being removed from the operating system or being diminished in some way, and one of those heartbreaking goodbyes is MS Paint.
According to the list, Paint has been put on the ¡®deprecated¡¯ list, meaning it¡¯s not in active development, and you won¡¯t see any more updates to the program. Unfortunately, that also means it may be entirely removed from future versions of Windows, for the first time since the program¡¯s debut in 1985.
Paint has been a stalwart companion for a lot of us; scribbling entertainment when parents didn¡¯t allow us to have computer games, an easy way to crop and resize images, and the go to screenshot saver. Hopefully, if Paint is eventually removed, it receives a better sendoff from Microsoft than the simple ¡®X¡¯ it just got under the ¡®deprecated¡¯ column.
