Microsoft Teams Has 200 Million Participants, Tracking 4.1 Billion Meeting Minutes A Day
This number is a massive leap from 44 million users that it proudly reported last month. Microsoft has also revealed the fact that it has witnessed over 200 million daily meeting participants this month, amounting to over 4.1 billion meeting minutes on Microsoft Teams.
The world is in their homes due to the COVID-19 lockdown and we¡¯re all now reliant on video-conferencing apps to interact with our colleagues or even our loved ones.
This has considerably spiked the number of users on video conferencing platforms, and now, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has revealed that its video conferencing app Microsoft Teams has reached 75 million active users across the globe.
This number is a massive leap from 44 million users that it proudly reported last month. Microsoft has also revealed the fact that it has witnessed over 200 million daily meeting participants this month, amounting to over 4.1 billion meeting minutes on Microsoft Teams.
There is no doubt that the rise in users is linked to the COVID-19 lockdown. Since the lockdown started last month, Microsoft Teams recorded 12 million new users adding to its user base in just a week. Even at this time, it had 900 million meeting minutes on a daily basis. Today this number sits at a whopping 4.1 billion.
In case you were wondering the number is not close to what Zoom has claimed (with 300 million daily meeting participants), you need to acknowledge the fact that unlike Zoom, Microsoft Teams has paid users, part of Microsoft 365.
Everyone wants a piece of what Zoom¡¯s getting. Recently Facebook tweaked the participant limit on its Messenger as well as WhatsApp, tempting more users to use their services instead of Zoom.
Google, however, took this to a whole new level yesterday, by making its Google Meet video conferencing app free for all, while also boasting about its secured features. It also announced that Meet's daily usage has spiked by 30x since January, with the app hosting 3 billion minutes of video meetings and adding 3 million new users every day.
