Pixel 4 Rumour Roundup: Everything We Know About Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL has been in the news for quite some time now. The device has been leaked by leaksters as well as teased by Google for quite a while now.

And these leaks and teases have somewhat given us an idea of what we can expect from Google's upcoming flagship. Here's all we know about Google's Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL.

Google Pixel 4 Cameras

Let's start with the cameras. Google teased the image of the upcoming Pixel 4's back sometime in June and it shed light on a square camera module with dual camera sensors- a first on Google Pixel phones. While there is no exact information about the primary camera, the secondary camera is expected to get a 16-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens for crispy zoom images.

The device is also expected to get a single front camera this time as opposed to a dual-camera unit on the Pixel 3XL. We can expect to do its sorcery on the camera software to make it shoot great images like it has done in the past.

Various leaks by leaksters have revealed that Google Pixel 4 and 4XL are going back in time- with respect to display aesthetics. The Pixel 4 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display, while the 4 XL is set to offer a 6.4-inch panel. Both are expected to have a Quad HD+ resolution.

However, the displays won't have an entirely edge-to-edge display as seen on phones like OnePlus 7 Pro or the Redmi K20/K20 Pro. It isn't going with a notch either. The devices will instead feature a considerable forehead with minimal bezels around all three sides. Now while this might seem like a bad thing, the forehead is going to house a complex array of sensors and cameras to enable iPhone-like face-unlock capabilities.

The Pixel 4 Sensors

According to Google, The top section includes a Face unlock IR camera, a standard front-facing camera, An ambient light/ proximity sensor, a Soli Radar chip, a Face Unlock Dot Projector, another Face Unlock IR camera and a Face unlock Flood Illuminator. Moreover, Google has also stated that all the face data will be stored securely in the Titan M chip on the Pixel 4. Unlike the iPhone where once the Face ID scans your face, you slide up to get into the phone, Pixel 4 just unlocks, without the need to slide or do anything else on the screen.

Google also hinted at a new Motion Sensing feature on the Pixel 4, based on Project Soli. It uses the Soli Radar Chip and other aforementioned paraphernalia of sensors to detect hand motions to do day-to-day tasks like changing soundtracks, silencing the phone and snoozing alarms just by waving the hand on top of the phone.

Google Pixel 4 and 4XL Performance

Google Pixel 4 is expected to get a bunch of major improvements in the hardware department. While there is no clear indication on this yet, the device could be launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, a slightly overclocked version of the regular Snapdragon 855. The device is also expected to sport 6GB of RAM as opposed to 4GB that's seen since the Google Pixel 2. We can also expect the base variant of the device to come with 128GB memory, up to 256GB.

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL: Pricing and Availability

Just like last year, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL can be expected to start around the $999 price point. The devices are expected to be unveiled in the annual 'Made By Google' event sometime in October. The exact dates are yet to be revealed.
