Smartphone companies are used to bringing in a new product in the market every quarter. Not following this trend is Poco, Xiaomi¡¯s off-brand that has launched its second smartphone after more than a year. Following the launch of Poco F1 back in 2018, Poco X2 has now been introduced in India at a starting price of Rs 15,999.

At this price, the device directly competes with the Realme X2. If the name of the smartphone was not a hint enough, most of the launch event made it clear that the company was gunning for this comparison. So needless to say, Poco has equipped the X2 accordingly, boldly claiming its superiority in almost every aspect against the Realme X2. That comparison, however, is for another time.

For now, we can focus on what the latest Poco smartphone has on offer. So here goes:

1. Pleasing design

Poco seems to have taken cues for the design of the Poco X2 from various devices in the past. A look at the smartphone and one can say that the result is in its favour. A tall body design with a curved Gorilla Glass 5 at the back as well as the front as a mark of assurance of its endurance. That though, is not the interesting design element on the X2.

Another exciting decision is to go for a punch-hole front camera that houses dual lenses. So no more ugly notches for the selfie camera. There is even a 3.5mm headphone jack that follows the trend of other smartphones in the category.

We have seen the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G working for the likes of Realme X2 as the best in the Snapdragon 7 series. The company, however, claims to have made it even better with a liquid cool technology that transfers heat 300 times faster than the smartphones that don¡¯t have it. The same was probably reflected in higher AnTuTu and GPU scores of the Poco X2 against the Realme X2.

One of the most crucial aspects of a smartphone is its battery backup. To keep the Poco X2 running for long, the company has powered it with a 4500 mAh battery. Coupled to that is a 27W fast charging support along with an in-box charger that is claimed to charge the phone faster than the Realme X2. So running out of juice will not be easy for your smartphone.

4. Dual front cameras

Camera wars have reached a new level with the quad camera setups being seen on smartphones these days. Simultaneously, front cameras have also evolved and to keep its foot in the race, the Poco X2 comes with a dual camera setup (20 megapixel + 2 megapixel) at the front. It might be too early to judge the camera quality just yet but given that the normal and the depth lens are enclosed in a neat notch, they seem to have a pleasing look and feel to them.

5. Price

Even with its first smartphone ever as a brand, Poco was majorly highlighted because of its price vis-a-vis what it had to offer. The story stays the same with the Poco X2. A starting price of Rs 15,999 for a smartphone with the best Snapdragon 7 series processor, quad and dual camera setup, 4500 mAh battery and a pleasing design in three striking colours sounds like a deal.

The bigger storage variants are aptly priced too. The 6GB+128GB option is priced for Rs 16,999 while the 8GB+256GB variant will retail for Rs 19,999. It is not tough to see that the Poco X2 goes easier on the pocket in comparison to many other devices in the market today.
