As India Suffers Poor 4G, Samsung Already Planning 6G At 1000 Gbps Speed By 2028
Samsung is already racing ahead to visualize a 6G connected world
While India still struggles to get decent 4G speeds, most parts of the world are swiftly adopting 5G.
However, Samsung is several steps ahead in this game. It has published a white paper discussing what we can expect from 6G that it expects to arrive as soon as the year 2028.
Yes, most of us are like WTF! It's 6G already? Well, not really. This is just a white paper -- sort of like Samsung's roadmap for what we can expect 6G to deliver and how Samsung plans to achieve it.
For starters, it claims a massive spike in reliability and speed. Samsung¡¯s white paper states, ¡°While 5G was designed to achieve 20Gbps peak data rate, in 6G, we aim to provide the peak data rate of 1,000Gbps and a user experienced data rate of 1Gbps.¡±
Samsung adds that it expects this while delivering a latency of 100 microseconds. To put things into perspective 5G maxes out at one millisecond. The networks are also expected to be more reliable -- 10 times more reliable than 5G to be precise.
But 5G¡¯s fast speeds won¡¯t just be applied for watching videos and gaming, but these speeds will allow for consumption of content in different, more dynamic mediums like AR (Augmented Reality) or VR (Virtual Reality) or even Mixed Reality -- something that even 5G isn¡¯t ready to handle.
It also plans to use 6G for showing holograms or digital 3D replicas of humans that are very network hungry applications, according to Samsung.
Samsung also touts that 6G can be developed with AI¡¯s deep integration. This will allow for a more efficient power consumption while also offering the ability to better network issues as well as handover operations.
Surely Samsung isn¡¯t the first ones in the race. We have Huawei, Ericsson and other players who are working on 6G tech, and all of it is crazy exciting to say the least.
