Steve Wozniak's Original Blueprint Of Apple 2 Gets Auctioned For Rs 4.65 Crore
The schematics or rather sketches for the Apple II were made by none other than its creator, Steve Wozniak. He first conceptualised the Apple II in the year 1975.
In the world of computers, Apple II is regarded as the iconic computer that started a new revolution in the field of personal computing.
So it is only fitting that the schematics that started this revolution would be crazy special. And recently, these schematics were sold for a whopping $630,272 at an auction.
The schematics or rather sketches for the Apple II were made by none other than its creator, Steve Wozniak. He first conceptualised the Apple II in the year 1975. The sale for the schematics was conducted by RR Auction with Woz also providing a letter of authenticity for the schematics as well as some other iconic Apple products from that era.
For the schematics, Wozniak wrote in the letter, ¡°These documents, circa 1975, are my original Apple II prototype schematics and programming instructions,¡± Wozniak wrote. ¡°They are precious.¡±
The schematics, which consisted of 23 pages, was sold to a private bidder. These pages included diagrams for ¡®Bus Sources¡¯, ¡®Sync Timing¡¯, ¡®System Timing¡¯, along with handwritten programming instructions.
While personal computers did exist before Apple II, they weren¡¯t that interesting or even easy to use. However, with Apple II the personal computer became more compact, but with a UI that made it so much simpler to use.
Along with the diagrams, Woz also authenticated a pair of funky Apple-shaped sunglasses made by an optometrist in 1979 as a ¡®fun project¡¯. 41 years on, they were still in pretty good condition and sold at the auction for $18,972.
The auction also sold one of the first-ever computer mice ever built that sold for $34,478, as well as a job offer letter from Steve Jobs to Del Yocam with Jobs accepting the offer exclaiming, ¡°I accept this insanely great offer !!!¡± sold at a whopping $32,893. But the star of the show was a working Apple I in pristine condition which sold for $736,862.50.
