Tesla To Make The World¡¯s Largest Lithium-Ion Battery In South Australia
While we worry about our phone batteries running dry, Elon Musk¡¯s Tesla is readying the world¡¯s largest battery installation. To be set up in the state of South Australia, the battery will have a capacity of 100 MW and will be able to provide 129 megawatt-hours of energy generation.

Just to put things in perspective, we¡¯re talking about a battery to power something on the scale of a city.
According to Tesla, 30,000 homes can be powered by the battery. The state of South Australia has been struggling to provide a reliable supply of electricity to its citizens, so this will come as a much-needed relief.
The large-scale battery storage system will be connected to a wind farm and will form the backup in case enough power can¡¯t be generated.

Elon Musk had promised that the system will be in place within 100 days of the contract being signed, or it would be free! The target for completion is December 2017.
