This All-Electric Submarine Lets You Explore The Sea Like A Boss ForRs 10.6 Crore. Interested?

Despite looking more like a race car or quadcopter drone, the DeepFlight Dragon is actually a fully capable underwater electric submersible. And if you¡¯ve been looking for the perfect addition to your super-yacht, then look no further.

Over time, we have seen that electric drivetrains are not just limited to road vehicles anymore. All-electric VTOLs, airplanes and even boats have come up, as the industry tries to electrify each and every possible way of commute for the humans. But an electric submarine, well, that is a first!

But is is not untrue. DeepFlight Inc has come up with Dragon, an electric submarine that is basically designed for everyone. Apart from its futuristic looks, the company claims that it uses automatic stability software and multi-axis thrusters that perform most of the tasks on their own.

And that makes maneuvering the submarine an easy deal. While one lever controls the height of the submarine underwater, another is used for moving forward, backwards and side to side.

Now comparing this with other electric offerings, like the VTOLs, hoverboards and surfboards, the DeepFlight Dragon seems to be child¡¯s play. That is exactly what the company stresses upon ¡°Dragon¡¯s cockpit and flight controls were designed for easy, intuitive use, allowing the submarine to be piloted by its owner.¡±

It has also been designed to help ease the toil of underwater divers. For this, the company has used a ¡°proprietary technology¡± that is able to look after the critical functions like setting the depth limits and more. Apart from that, the physical attributes of the sub measure its length at 5 metres, width at 1.9 metres, weight at 1800 kgs and operational depth at 100 metres, with a payload capacity of 250 kgs.

As for its back up, the DeepFlight Dragon promises an 8-hours backup, thanks to a large 14 kWh LiFePO4 battery pack. Additionally, an emergency battery power is able to last up to 72 hours, basically to help in times of underwater emergencies.

Now going underwater does not come without any risks. So safety in such expeditions is a paramount concern. Hence, the DeepFlight Dragon has been equipped with dual oxygen filters, carbon dioxide scrubbers as well as dual life support systems.

What¡¯s even more interesting is that the submarine is naturally designed to float to the surface in case it runs out of juice, unlike others which would sink down to the bottom. The sub is positively buoyant at all times and uses its thrusters to dive deeper instead of rising to the top. As a result, no drop weights are used. Though, in case things start doing southward, there is an also additional inflatable lift system for emergencies.

But weight, an engineering marvel like this cannot be tagged at an affordable cost. That¡¯s right, and so the DeepFlight Dragon comes with a hefty $1.5 million (~Rs 10.6 Crore) price tag. After all, it is only meant to complement your super-yacht and is not for any Tom Dick and Harry. So in case you have $1.5 million lying around in your pockets, you can probably get your hands on ones.
