Top 10 entrepreneurs who generated online buzz between 2020-2021 includes Mukesh Ambani, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos among many. Check out the list
Entrepreneurs rule the world! All modern conglomerates that have changed the world were the work of an entrepreneur in action. Most buzz surrounding an entrepreneur and their work is now generated online in our increasingly digital realities.
Now, a new inquiry lists the most discussed entrepreneurs of the last 12 months, between September 2020 and August 2021. MoneyTransfers undertook an analysis of content published over the last year using Buzzsumo to ascertain which entrepreneurs generated the most online buzz.
From Elon Musk to Mukesh Ambani to Jeff Bezos, here are the top 10 most discussed entrepreneurs in the world:
1. Elon Musk
SpaceX and Tesla co-founder Elon Musk has taken the internet by storm - with his satirical takes on Twitter to the quirky inventions that are seeing the light of day under his leadership.
According to the analysis, at least 340,957 articles about Elon Musk were published between September 2020 and August 2021.
The suspected alien recently shocked the world with the Tesla Bot, a robot that imitates humans without the sci-fi obsession with robots overthrowing humans. Check out Elon Musk's 10 outrageous comments.
2. Jeff Bezos
Always a step behind Elon Musk, Amazon and Blue Origin's Jeff Bezos came in at the second spot with 142,862 online articles mentioning the master of e-commerce over the last year.
Just last week, Bezos caused an internet storm after investing in a start-up that wants to reverse ageing and find a cure for mortality.
Elon Musk's response to this investment added fuel to the fire. Read how Jeff Bezos wants to cheat death and become immortal.
3. Bill Gates
Quite predictable? We agree. Nevertheless, the original king of entrepreneurship and the co-founder of tech behemoth Microsoft took the third spot in terms of online buzz over the last year.
Gates was mentioned in 84,262 internet articles between 2020-2021.
Gates' highly publicised separation from longtime wife Melinda Gates may have added to the man's never-ending online fame.
4. Warren Buffett
Don't scratch your head. Warren Buffet is famous for more than his wealth. The 91-year-old philanthropist and business magnate heads Berkshire Hathaway - a conglomerate which owns 60 big companies like Dairy Queen and battery maker Duracell.
In the last year, 45,168 articles were published about Warren Buffett, according to MoneyTransfers.
Buffett is also known for his philanthropy and has pledged to give away 99 per cent of his wealth, with help from #3 Bill Gates.
5. Mark Zuckerberg
Phew! The Facebook founder and social media demigod Mark Zuckerberg flooded the headlines last year - mostly for privacy concerns surrounding the products offered by Facebook group of companies, including the widely used WhatsApp and Instagram.
Zuckerberg has given the gift/curse (depends on how you see it) of modernised social media to the world, for which he continues to generate buzz online.
In the last year, at least 39,047 articles about the Facebook founder were published.
6. Richard Branson
Everybody loves a little Branson! The billionaire is the third rich American who is participating in the so-called "billionaire space race", with the other two being #1 Elon Musk and #2 Jeff Bezos.
With the Virgin Galactic spaceflight earlier this year, Branson set the tone of space tourism for wealthy entrepreneurs.
Over the last year, Richard Branson had 37,144 articles written about him in the digital ecosystem.
7. Mukesh Ambani
India's posterchild for wealth Mukesh Ambani is also the largest shareholder of Reliance Industries, a Fortune Global 500 company and also India's most valuable company.
The richest person in Asia, Ambani has been credited for starting the digital revolution in India with the advent of Jio platforms that made India the market with the world's cheapest internet and expanded access to internet for the average Indian.
Between 2020-2021, Ambani received 27,683 hits in terms of article volume.
8. Jack Dorsey
What's an entrepreneurial list without Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. While Dorsey is on the lower-profile side of social media entrepreneurs, he remains a big name by virtue of his platform - Twitter.
Twitter's industry-defining move happened over the last year when the social media giant started cracking down on misinformation with labels and complete bans. Twitter put up a brave face against chronic misinformation spreader Donald Trump, which set a precedent.
Between September 2020-August 2021, Dorsey had 24,654 articles being published about him.
9. Jack Ma
China's favourite entrepreneur Jack Ma - to the world. His own country doesn't like him much. In fact, very recently China prevented Alibaba's founder from setting up the world's largest IPO with Ant.
China perceives tech companies as quasi governments and has cracked down on big companies to prevent a Chinese Facebook from forming. Owing to his negative comments about Xi Jinping and the fallout that followed, Jack Ma generated quite the buzz online - with 14,723 articles in the last year.
10. Sundar Pichai
Last is never the least, they say - and the same holds true for Sundar Pichai. Google's Indian-American CEO took the tenth spot in the most discussed entrepreneurs list. Pichai is credited for standardising Google Chrome as the internet browser of choice and for transforming Google's cloud-centric approach.
He also plays an intrinsic role in Google's product development missions. In the last year, 10,838 articles were published about Pichai.
