Twitter is set to resume verification as soon as next week, Elon Musk says. Starting December 2, a new way of verification will start rolling out to users on Twitter.
The new manual authentication process was described by Elon Musk as "painful, but necessary" on Twitter. It appears that Twitter verification badges will now be colour-coded - gold for companies, grey for government officials, and the classic blue check mark for individual accounts (including celebrities).
A long-drawn verification fiasco
Verifications were paused on Twitter after Elon Musk began offering blue ticks to people who had subscribed to Twitter Blue for $8 per month. This meant any user on Twitter could get verified. Naturally, chaos ensued! Impersonations hit Twitter like a tornado, affecting various celebrities and brands.
Sorry for the delay, we¡¯re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week.

Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates.
Painful, but necessary.

Earlier, Musk had said that Twitter wouldn't relaunch Twitter Blue until "we¡¯re confident about significant impersonations not happening." The new owner of Twitter had also mentioned colour-coded verifications in a Tweet earlier, but now it seems that the company is moving forward with the same - through manual authentication.
All verified individual humans will have same blue check, as boundary of what constitutes ¡°notable¡± is otherwise too subjective.

Individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org.
Longer explanation next week.
Recently, Elon Musk also reinstated suspended accounts, starting with controversial figure and former US President Donald Trump. Going against his promise of setting a content moderation council on Twitter, Musk used polls on Twitter to make decisions. He has blamed "activist groups" for his failure to set up a moderation council.

"The people have spoken. Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei," Musk wrote on Twitter while announcing that suspended accounts would make a return to the platform soon. This Latin phrase translates into - "the voice of the people is the voice of God."
