Why Twitter Is Using Elon Musk's Infamous Poop Emoji Tweet As Evidence In Lawsuit
Twitter will use Elon Musk's infamous smiling poop emoji Tweet as evidence in lawsuit against him
Twitter is suing Elon Musk for pulling out of a $44 billion deal. SpaceX and Tesla founder initiated a Twitter takeover deal in April, promising users it would become an inclusive place for free speech.
Last week, he pulled out of the expensive deal citing issues with how Twitter deals with its bot problem. While Twitter claims that it has given access to internal bot documents to Elon Musk, he seemed unimpressed.
Over the course of the last few weeks, Elon Musk said multiple times that Twitter is significantly underreporting its bot problem. For perspective, bot accounts are automated spam profiles that plague Twitter. Those scammy crypto links you see every now and then? Yep, malicious bots!
Be careful what you Tweet, Musk!
In the lawsuit against Tesla CEO, Twitter has used the infamous poop emoji Tweet as evidence. Ok, let's rewind a little bit. On May 16, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal created a Twitter thread explaining how the company tackles bot accounts, claiming that less than 5% of all accounts make up bot accounts on the platform.
Our actual internal estimates for the last four quarters were all well under 5% ¨C based on the methodology outlined above. The error margins on our estimates give us confidence in our public statements each quarter.

Not much later, Elon Musk responded to the Tweet with a poop emoji. "We suspend over half a million spam accounts every day, usually before any of you even see them on Twitter. We also lock millions of accounts each week that we suspect may be spam ¨C if they can¡¯t pass human verification challenges (captchas, phone verification, etc.)," Agrawal had explained in the thread.

Besides the poop emoji, Elon Musk wrote the following in a separate Tweet - "So how do advertisers know what they¡¯re getting for their money? This is fundamental to the financial health of Twitter."

Twitter is using his smiling poop face emoji Tweet as proof that the space mogul was disparaging the company, and creating "business risk for Twitter," adding pressure on its share price.

It's difficult to predict what will become of the deal now. Would Elon Musk be forced to complete the acquisition or would he walk away with a fine? Only time will tell.
