Twitter May Soon Have Dislike And Downvote Button For Posts And Comments
Twitter product lead Kayvon Beykpour confirmed that the company is exploring the idea of adding a dislike button or a downvote capability. This would work similar to the dislike button on YouTube or downvote option on Reddit. If and when rolled out will be an effort from Twitter to encourage meaningful content and interactions among its users.
The Twitterati has longed for a dislike button or a downvote system on the microblogging platform. Twitter's product lead has now hinted at the possibility, saying that the company is ¡°exploring¡± such a feature.
In a recent tweet in response to a Twitter user's query, Kayvon Beykpour confirmed that the company is exploring the idea of adding a dislike button or a downvote capability. This would work similar to the dislike button on YouTube or downvote option on Reddit.
As can be understood, the feature, if and when rolled out, will be an effort from Twitter to encourage meaningful content and interactions among its users. The social media platform confirmed the same to Mashable recently.
#1, 2 and 4 are literally our top priority (making the public conversation on Twitter) and has been for years. We¡¯ve made a lot of progress but still lots to do. We do feel it¡¯s important to solve other problems too! As for #3, this is something we¡¯re exploring.

Beykpour¡¯s response addressed a list of issues marked by a user to the Twitter executive. Others on the list mention ¡°removing all coordinated inauthentic behavior,¡± ¡°improving user experience regarding harassment and reporting¡± and ¡°disinformation harming users.¡±
Beykpour cleared that these three have been the top priorities of Twitter for years and that the company has made progress with further scope of improvements. It is, however, ¡°important to solve other problems too,¡± wrote Beykpour.
Note that the product lead at Twitter has only hinted at the feature possibly making its way to users. He did not mention a timeline for it or even confirm if Twitter will give it a go. There is hence, no assurity that the feature will in fact, even see the light of the day.
