Twitter's paid verification service has made its way to India, but only for a few users. Verification is offered as part of Twitter's paid subscription service called Twitter Blue.
While Elon Musk said just last week that India will receive the service in about a month, it appears that some users are receiving prompts to subscribe to Twitter Blue.
In the United States, Twitter Blue costs $8 per month. In India, the service will cost Rs. 719 per month.

Some users from India took to Twitter to share the prompts they've received while using the app, but it seems that only a select few iPhone users have the option to subscribe to Twitter Blue at the moment, NDTV reported.
The cost is not really pocket friendly, especially given what Musk had claimed earlier:

If you subscribe to Twitter Blue, the company will give you a blue tick - implying verification... without undergoing any verification. Confusing, right? Don't worry, Elon Musk agrees. He teased earlier that the company will experiment with features in months to come.

Twitter Blue subscribers will get other perks too - like priority on feed and replies. Even then, users are torn on the use value of this. For starters, verification was seen as a badge of honour - that you've made it on Twitter - but with a paid mechanism in place, that allure is largely lost.

Twitter blue checkmark will cost the users Rs 719 per month. Netflix Rs 649 plan offers 4K+ HDR streaming & allows streaming on 4 diff screens, Amazon Prime is also available for just Rs 1499 per year.

Elon Musk has also fired half of Twitter's global staff. In addition, many of its top security, safety, and privacy executives resigned from the company on Thursday, leaving a trail of mystery.

Most of Twitter India's workforce was also let go, as part of Musk's plans to maximise profits for the company while limiting expenditure. Twitter Blue is not officially available in India yet, but if these prompts are to be trusted, the rollout should begin anytime soon.
