In fact Amar and Ashish Vitthal, twin brothers from Sion Koliwada in Mumbai are using Holika Dahan to make their point about the dangers of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The two have built an effigy of the game, which they will set ablaze today.
The effigy is that of the 'PUBG guy' from all of the game's posters, complete with pistol and level 3 helmet. It seems the effigy may have also been inspired by the movie 'Uri: The Surgical Strike', because that last phrase is what appears beneath the name PUBG on the build.
"It (PUBG) must be banned," Ashish told ANI. "Parents tell us children play PUBG all day. They appreciate us for the concept."
In fact, it seems the general sentiment of danger surrounding the game among older adults has spread. "People are turning violent by playing PUBG," Amar insisted. "Children are not focusing on their studies. So we came up with this concept, we want to spread a social message."
They're not alone in their thinking either. This effigy follows close on the heels of an announcement from the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) last month, calling the game a bad influence. Not just PUBG either, but they included games like Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, Hitman, Plague Inc, and even Pokemon.
At the time, the DCPCR said the games are "full of misogyny, hate, deceit, and vengeance". Sure, that makes sense for a lot of the games on that list. GTA is guilty on every single count, and even Hitman. God of War is a little more of a grey area because, while it's a story about hate and violence, it's also a story about how those lead to a man's downfall and he's always fighting those negative emotions back to be better.
Plague Inc meanwhile is literally all about how dangerous a pandemic can be, it's more of an educational game than a danger to society, and Fortnite is probably one of the most cartoonish shooters out there, though its community can definitely be too toxic for a child.
But guys, Pokemon?
Anyway, given that we've seen PUBG suicides, and weddings, this was only a matter of time.
