Vodafone Idea Clocks Over 1.5 Gbps Speeds In 5G Trials In Pune & Gandhinagar
For its testing in Pune, Vi made use of Ericsson Radios as well as Ericsson Dual Mode Core based on cloud-native technology consisting of 5G SA, 5G NSA & LTE packet core functions. In fact, all the use cases demonstrated in Pune were developed over Ericsson¡¯s 5G tech solutions.
Vi (Vodafone Idea) today demonstrated a range of 5G-based tech solutions as a part of its ongoing 5G trials in the cities of Pune, and Gandhinagar in Maharashtra and Gujarat respectively.

The 5G trials were conducted keeping in mind use cases relevant for enterprises and consumers in India. Vi teamed up with telecom hardware giants Ericsson and Nokia, industry leaders such as L&T Smart World & Communication, Athonet as well as Indian startups such as Vizzbee and Tweek Labs.
For the 5G trials, Vi has been allotted from the government of India, 26GHz and 3.5GHz spectrum in the mmWave band by the Department of Telecommunications. It managed to achieve peak speeds of 1.5Gbps on 3.5GHz, over 4.2Gbps on 26GHz and up to 9.8Gbps on the backhaul spectrum of E-bands.
