WhatsApp Country Head, Meta India¡¯s Public Policy Director Have Quit The Company
This was revealed by a Meta spokesperson today and it follows the exit of Meta India¡¯s head, Ajit Mohan who quit a few weeks ago this month after a four-year stint, to join rival social media company, Snap Inc.
Two of the biggest executives at Meta India have quit their roles -- WhatsApp India¡¯s head, Abhijit Bose and Meta India¡¯s public policy director, Rajiv Aggarwal, revealed a Reuters report.
This was revealed by a Meta spokesperson today and it follows the exit of Meta India¡¯s head, Ajit Mohan who quit a few weeks ago this month after a four-year stint, to join rival social media company, Snap Inc.
This also comes at a time when Meta is undergoing major layoffs, which were announced last week. Meta at the time had revealed that it would be slashing over 11,000 jobs -- around 13 percent of its workforce -- as the company switched to a metaverse future amidst dwindling advertising revenue and record-breaking inflation.
The spokesperson however highlighted that the recent exits weren¡¯t related to the layoffs that are currently going on.
Rajiv Aggarwal has been replaced by Shivnath Thukral as its new director for public policy in India, as per the spokesperson and they're still looking for someone to replace Bose¡¯s role at WhatsApp. A few months back, WhatsApp India¡¯s head of payments, Manesh Mahatme had also quit the platform to join e-commerce giant Amazon.
Times are tough at big tech companies like Meta and Twitter after the current government is revamping its regulations and tightening laws that govern these companies. The exit however comes at a time when WhatsApp is trying its best to grow in the payments service space -- a territory currently dominated by Alphabet¡¯s Google Pay, Walmart's PhonePe and even Paytm.
