WhatsApp Rolls Out Polls Feature On iOS And Android: Here¡¯s How It Works
These polls are also end-to-end encrypted.
India¡¯s beloved messaging platform, WhatsApp has now started to roll out a new ¡®poll¡¯ feature to its users on both iOS and Android, reveals a WABetaInfo report.
The feature was recently announced alongside the Communities feature that allows users to have separate groups under one larger group to easily manage group conversations.
The polls feature allows users to create quick polls within groups where participants can cast their vote on group-based decisions -- maybe on what movie to watch or where to hangout this weekend. These polls are also end-to-end encrypted.
The feature clearly isn¡¯t latest -- we¡¯ve seen similar iterations on other social media platforms (like Instagram) and even on group messaging apps like Telegram or even Meta¡¯s Facebook Messenger, but the inclusion of polls in WhatsApp groups could make group conversations a lot more interesting,
How to send a poll on WhatsApp
On Android, users need to tap on the paperclip menu, under which they¡¯ll see an option for a Poll. On iOS, the same feature is hidden under the ¡®+¡¯ sign right next to the text box.
Once in it, the section gives you a space to enter the topic of the poll as well as the options for people to vote on.
For voters, they have the option to deselect and reselect another option, should they feel their decision change with time. Moreover, they also have the option to select more than one option to select.
