'World's Smartest Mask' With Voice Amplification, Lighting - Meet Razer's Project Hazel

It is no wonder that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on every aspect of our lives. This is ever more evident in a release from a renowned gaming firm about a face mask, termed as ¡°the world¡¯s smartest mask.¡±

The title is being claimed by Razer Inc for its concept N95 respirator called Project Hazel. The reusable face mask sports a transparent shell design that is glossy on the outside and is made of recycled plastic to reduce wastage. The mask is said to be waterproof as well as scratch resistant.

Those, however, are only the bare minimum qualities of the mask. Razer claims that the Project Hazel is the ¡°most intelligent mask¡± ever created. The most importatnt reason for this is a built-in mic and amplifier combo on the face mask. The combination is a patent-pending technology by Razer that is meant to ensure that the wearer¡¯s speech isn¡¯t muffled when the mask is on.

Other than that, the mask has been designed with utmost protection of the user in mind. Razer says that it comes with high bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE), which can easily be maintained by using new filters into the ventilators. The detachable ventilators regulate airflow and are capable of ¡°filtering at least 95% of airborne particles.¡±

The active ventilation system also helps prevent a build-up of CO2 in the mask that can cause headaches and dizziness. It is lined with a silicon guard to sit snugly around the wearer¡¯s face and prevent any air leaks. Razer says that the mask can be custom-made to fit one¡¯s face shape.

The smart mask by Razer comes with a dual-purpose fast charger that is lined with a UV light interior to kill bacteria and viruses as the mask charges. Razer says that the mask has a long-lasting battery life for all-day use.

Of course, since the mask is primarily meant for gamers, it is equipped with 16.8 million colour options and ¡°a suite of iconic effects.¡± It sports 2 customizable lighting zones powered by Razer Chroma RGB that also light up in the dark for easy lip-reading and display of facial cues while gaming in low light.

The mask by Razer is currently just in the concept stage and is yet to attain the required approvals and certifications for being an N95 face mask with the claimed capabilities. Once out though, it will unarguably be one of the most equipped masks to have made it to the market shelves across the globe.
