Xiaomi Mi 11 Is World's First Smartphone To Run On Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Chip
The smartphone is as fancy as it gets, featuring a massive 6.8-inch OLED panel with a (quad-HD) resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. It also gets a 120Hz refresh rate -- a first in Xiaomi¡¯s smartphone lineup.
Qualcomm recently unveiled its latest and fastest flagship SoC (system on chip) that will power Android smartphones in 2021 -- Snapdragon 888, offering crazy fast performance as well as 5G connectivity with a revamped modem.

For a while, we¡¯ve been wanting to know which smartphone will be the first to don this new chipset, and for the longest time, many thought that it could be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21. However, it looks like Xiaomi has beat Samsung in this race, by announcing that its newest flagship -- Mi 11 is going to be the first phone in the world with Snapdragon 888 on it.

Snapdragon 888 is an octa-core processor paired with Adreno 660 GPU. For 5G, Qualcomm¡¯s new X60 5G modem which is integrated into the chip. Snapdragon 888 is claimed to be 25 percent faster CPU performance and 35 percent faster GPU performance. Mi 11 has several variants for the smartphone. The base model gets 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, however, if you want the best and fastest, you also have the option of picking up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The smartphone is heavily loaded in the camera department too, with a 108-megapixel primary sensor clubbed with an f/1.85 aperture lens. You also get an additional 13-megapixel ultra-wide shooter with a field of view of 123 degrees. The camera clutter also sports a humble 5-megapixel macro/telephoto shooter. The rear camera is capable of capturing videos at 8K resolution as well as sports a special low-light video capture mode.
No charger in the box
What this feature-loaded won¡¯t come with is a charging brick as it¡¯s joining the bandwagon as Apple¡¯s to be more environmentally friendly. This was revealed by Xiaomi¡¯s CEO, Lei Jun through a post on Weibo. A report by Android Authority revealed that the company plans to offer a bundle that includes its 55W charger at no extra cost. So it's the buyer who will have the option to make an environmentally conscious choice.

The device is priced at 3,999 yuan which is approximately Rs 44,000. While Mi hasn¡¯t really revealed its intentions for launching the phone in the global market, chances are we could soon see the device in India.
