YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Quits After 9 Yrs, Indian-Origin Neal Mohan To Take Over

YouTube's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Susan Wojcicki stepped down from the post after nine years at the video platform, she announced in a blog post on Thursday. Now, Indian-origin Neal Mohan will take the reins from Wojcicki, she added.
According to Wojcicki, she wants to focus on "family, health, and personal projects [she's] passionate about."

Susan Wojcicki was previously a senior vice president for ad products at Google and became YouTube CEO in 2014. Among Google's earliest employees, she had been with Google's parent company Alphabet for nearly 25 years.

Now, Neal Mohan will head YouTube. A Stanford graduate, Mohan joined Google in 2008 and is currently the top product officer at YouTube where he has been building YouTube Shorts and Music.

The announcement did not cause much impact on Alphabet's shares that barely changed for the day - down by less than 1% after the news.

Previously, Mohan worked with Microsoft and currently also sits on the board of Stitch Fix, a personal styling company, and 23andMe, a biotechnology company.

In addition, Mohan is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, an independent US think tank. Describing Mohan, Wojcicki said that "he has a wonderful sense for our product, our business, our creator and user communities, and our employees. Neal will be a terrific leader for YouTube."
