This comes at a time when the government has announced vaccination of people who are over 60 years of age as well as people of over 45 with comorbidities.
This is one of the two vaccines that were permitted for emergency use, by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) in January , 2021. To instil faith in Indians, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got himself vaccinated with Bharat-Biotech¡¯s Covaxin at Delhi¡¯s AIIMS hospital. He was also one of the first individuals in India to get vaccinated upon commencement of Phase II of vaccination.
