IIT Dhanbad Alumnus Develops AI Tech To Improve Phone Battery Performance
The app does it by increasing the efficiency and reliability in smartphones, tablets, cars, computer batteries and even smart fridges, on a software level, allowing extra time before one would need to get carbon-footprint increasing replacements.
A novel AI-based technology developed by an IIT Dhanbad Alumnus (now at the University of Essex in the UK) can help improve smartphone battery life by 30 percent, while also saving your electricity bills, according to an IANS report.

Developed by Dr Amit Singh, the tech has been rolled into an app dubbed EOptomizer that allows reduction of carbon emissions by helping electronic devices last longer on the battery than they usually do,
The app does it by increasing the efficiency and reliability in smartphones, tablets, cars, computer batteries and even smart fridges, on a software level, allowing extra time before one would need to get carbon-footprint increasing replacements.
It basically uses AI to understand how a particular app is being used and optimises the energy usage for the app. For instance, a user could quickly scroll through a news app while at work to check the headlines. This would consume a higher frame per second compared to when they spend more time on the app in the evening, when they're usually scrolling down and reading more stories in full.

The app notices these changes in fps and looks for the best operating frequency for both the CPU and the GPU to allow for the change, while taking in the least amount of power and temperature gain in the device. Essentially, the AI tech analyses how an app is being used throughout the day and optimises the amount of energy it consumes.
Dr Singh explains, ¡°Considering that there will be approximately 50 billion devices by 2025 and many more thereafter, EOptomizer has great potential to help achieve the net zero emissions goal for the whole world. It is our hope that this app will make everyone¡¯s life better, save them money and save the environment.¡±
