Japanese Scientists Create Vaccine To Reverse Ageing And Old Age-Related Diseases
Scientists from Japan have created a vaccine that reverses ageing and also eliminates age-related diseases. It also slows down ageing
Japanese scientists have developed a vaccine to delete cells that cause ageing among humans.
According to the Japan Times, a team of scientists from Juntendo University led by professor Toru Minamino was able to eliminate "zombie cells" that build up over time and cause damage to nearby cells.
These zombie cells are primarily responsible for age-related ailments like arterial stiffening.

Killing "zombie cells"
The anti-ageing vaccine was administered in mice to decrease senescent cells or zombie cells. According to Minamino, the vaccine may be useful in treating arterial stiffening, diabetes, and other age-related diseases. Findings were from the study were published in Nature Aging on Friday.
Zombie cells, medically called senescent cells are those that have stopped multiplying over time but not die. Over time, these zombie cells cause damage to nearby cells by releasing chemicals that cause inflammation.

To create the anti-ageing vaccine, scientists identified a protein found in zombie cells in humans as well as mice. Then, a peptide vaccine based on amino acid that makes up a large part of that protein was created.

How does the vaccine work, you wonder? It enables the body to generate antibodies that attach to zombie cells. These, then are removed by white blood cells on which the antibodies created by the vaccine worked.

When administered on mice, the vaccine was able to remove senescent cells. In addition, areas affected by age-related diseases also shrank after the vaccine.
