This new creation is courtesy of Israeli food-tech firm SavorEat. Conventional plant-based burgers come frozen that are later cooked on a grill. However, SavorEat¡¯s burgers are made fresh at the restaurant using a self-contained 3D printer that consists of three cartridges.
The three cartridges contain oils and other ingredients. Customers can choose how much fat and protein they want to be added to the patty. The whole process takes about six minutes to cook.
The burgers, according to Racheli Vizman, SavorEat¡¯s CEO, are made from a combination of potato, chickpea and pea protein. She says it's ¡° a mix of innovation of meat alternative and digital manufacturing where we can also cook the product."
The company is funded by Israeli institutions. SavorEat is also collaborating with foodservice firm Yarzin Sela that offers Israeli high-tech companies, while also offering its vegan burgers at US universities.
