On Friday, De Bruyne took to his X (formerly called Twitter) account and shared the news with his fans. He captioned the post, 'Dear Manchester!' De Bruyne, in his announcement, said, "Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading."

The emotional message went on to note that these will be De Bruyne's final months as a Manchester City player, and nothing about this is easy to write. Giving a hint as to why he made the decision, he said, All football players know that this day eventually comes, and today is the day.
