Venice Under Water: Images Of World's Iconic City Of Love Show Just How Serious Climate Change Emergency Is!

World¡¯s iconic city of love is facing a climate emergency, and large parts of central Venice are under knee-deep water. Venice declared a state of emergency after apocalyptic floods swept through the lagoon city, flooding its historic basilica and inundating squares and centuries-old buildings.

On Sunday, Venice was hit by a record third exceptional tide in the same week, while other parts of Italy struggled with a series of weather woes, marking the worst week for the city since official tide statistics were produced in 1872.

The city¡¯s center for tide forecasts had warned the tide could reach 160 cm on Sunday and the high mark hit at 12:10 GMT was not far short of that.

As water flooded St Mark¡¯s Square, hundreds of voluntary workers helped citizens cope with the emergency. Here are some images show how the historic city of Venice is facing its worst floods in over 50 years.
