Mumbai and all the neighbouring districts have reportedly been put on high alert, and vehicles are not allowed outside at this time.
All emergency services, the police, fire brigade, NDRF and SDRF, army, navy, airforce, coast-guard, home-guards and others, are fully geared for the anticipated landfall with domestic flight operations curtailed.
As a precautionary measure, those living in non-pucca houses have been shifted to safer locations while slum-dwellers in low-lying areas have been asked to evacuate.
