Day 9: I Am Giving You 5 Reasons To Avoid Plastic Food Containers!
Yesterday we I told you about how our plastic bottles and plastic food containers were giving us cancer. Even though I wrote about how plastic leak hazardous elements in our food when subjected to heat or when they remain in contact with our food for too long, a lot of people debated over the possibilities of safe plastic and what kinds of plastic can we really use.
Well, to be honest, there is no such thing called safe plastic - There's only plastic that can be decomposed so it's easy on the eco-system, and the one that can't be decomposed making it lethal for our thriving environment. In today's article, we will learn exactly how our food containers are bringing us diseases we never knew existed.

The great American novelist Normal Mailer once said, ¡°I sometimes think that there is a malign force loose in the universe that is the social equivalent of cancer, and it¡¯s plastic. It infiltrates everything. It¡¯s metastasis. It gets into every single pore of productive life.¡± He said this back in 1983 when plastic wasn't even hovering over our heads like a death threat. So, here are 5 reasons why you should try to avoid plastic containers.
1. There Is No Such Thing As A Safe Plastic
Since plastics with bisphenol A ( BPA) have been in the news of late, we are coerced into thinking that the plastic without BPA components is free and safe for our use. But to tell you the truth, everything that's being sold under the tag of 'BPA-free' consist of BPS, which is a close substitute of BPA. These are industrial chemicals that give us cancer-like diseases.
The bottom line here is that plastic just cannot be produced without chemicals, and if it has chemicals, it is eventually going to harm you.
2. Plastic Toxicity Is Increasing Every day
We blame a lot of our health problems on our age and the environment where in fact it is the space we create that affects us the most. It's not a new observation that diseases like cancer, Alzheimer¡¯s, arthritis, heart disease, vision impairment and many others health problems are at an all-time rise, but how?
Scientists claim that our dependency on plastic that's laced with chemicals and produced under conditions that will make them stick around longer are the ones that induce unwanted characters in our food. More and more research is proving that it is plastic that's giving us all of this.
3. Plastic Will Kill Your Fertility and Reproductiveness
Other than smoking, drinking and a lot of unhealthy lifestyle practices, plastic too can dramatically affect your fertility and reproductiveness. It has done so for millions of people. BPA, as we talked earlier is one of the many reasons why there is an increased risk of miscarriages in women. Another set of new research has proved that chemicals found in plastic can lead to defects and development issues in children.
4. Plastic Is Making You Fat
Americans maintain some crazy dependence on plastic and it's not under the wraps that over two-thirds of American adults are either overweight or obese - a case quite similar to India. The world is constantly growing on disposable plastic containers that come with a very short lifespan. A research published in Environmental Health Perspectives claims that chemical widely used in plastics, called bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) are causing our stem cells to become fat.
5. The Planet, Of Course!
I have harped and harped over a week now how it's killing our system and I reckon that alone is a good enough reason for you to ditch it. Please, let your sense evoke on the subject and have a wider, holistic view of how we are slowly killing everything that's precious to us. Our planet, unlike our containers, is not something we can create or manufacture in our factory - it one of it's kind so let's not mess with it.
