75 Ft Dead Blue Whale Washes Up On Beach In Indonesia, Leaves Experts Flummoxed
Locals and conservation officials were left bewildered after a giant 23-metre (75-foot) blue whale washed up near a beach in Indonesia, Officials have no clue as to how the enormous marine mammal died and washed up on the beach.
The decaying body of a 23-metre (75-feet) blue whale that washed up on Na Batu Kepala Beach in Nunhila, Indonesia has flummoxed conservationists and locals alike.
The giant blue whale washed up near a beach in Indonesia, with curious onlookers thronging the area to have a look.
¡°We think that it¡¯s a blue whale but we don¡¯t know what caused its death,¡± AFP quoted local conservation official Lidya Tesa Saputra as saying. ¡°It looks like it didn¡¯t die here and may have been deceased for some time,¡± local conservation official Lidya Tesa Saputra.

Officials have no clue as to how the enormous marine mammal died and washed up on the beach. AFP shared a video of the bloated carcass, while people crowded the beach to see such a rare sight.

However, before the whale could be brought to shore for an examination to ascertain its death, the giant creature was washed back to sea on Wednesday.

"It looks like it didn't die here and may have been deceased for some time," Lidya Tesa Saputra added.
Blue whales are the largest animals in existence, weighing up to 200 tons and growing as long as 32 metres.
Seven pilot whales were found dead near Kupang last October. Cross-currents off the beach pose a danger to whales as they can get caught between reefs close to shore.
In 2018, a sperm whale was found dead in Indonesia with more than 100 plastic cups and 25 plastic bags in its stomach, raising concerns about the Southeast Asian archipelago's massive marine rubbish problem.
