Following The Plastic Ban, This Pune Restaurant Delivers Food In Steel Lunch Boxes
The Maharashtra government had issued a notification imposing a ban on the manufacture use sale and distribution of all plastic materials on March 23. The Bombay High Court called the ban reasonable after seeing a quantity of 1200 metric tons of waste every day in the state. A restaurant in Pune has started delivering food in steel lunch boxes after plastic ban in Maharashtra.
Following the state-wide plastic ban that is keeping everyone in check, a restaurant in Pune recently rolled out steel tiffin boxes for delivery. They will now continue delivering operations using steel lunch boxes to send out food.
Welcoming Maharashtra government's ban on plastic in the state, the restaurant now asks customers to return the boxes post delivery. They also have a similar scheme on takeaway. The restaurant asks customers to deposit Rs 200 which they reimburse once the boxes are returned.

On April 13, the Bombay High Court called the ban 'reasonable' after seeing a quantity of 1,200 metric tons of waste every day in the state.
"We welcome the state government's decision to ban plastic in the state as it's in favour of the environment," Ganesh Shetty, the owner of the restaurant, told ANI. He, however, added that many restaurants in the state are facing issues since the plastic ban.
We welcome govt's decision as it's in favour of environment but they should have provided us some more time to arrange an alternative.
