As the number of cases of animal brutality and killings rise in India, people are realising the need for stricter laws against animal cruelty. Now another such case, this time from Assam, stresses the need for stricter laws.
In another gut-wrenching incident, a leopard was reportedly beaten to death by locals in Guwahati in Katahbari area of Gorchuk. Tweeting about the incident, ANI wrote, ¡®Teeth and nails of the leopard were removed after it was killed¡¯.

According to the news agency, six people have been arrested in relation to the case till now and the police is looking for the remaining accused.
One video shows the locals carrying out a procession after the killing and posing with the dead leopard. The video has been shared on Twitter by Mohommed Zubair. In the video one can see some men walking with the carcass and a number of people, even children following them.

Guwahati police tweeted, ¡®In connection with the killing of a leopard in Katahbari, Nizarapar area, today Gorchuk PS Case no 315/2020 has been registered and police has arrested 6 accused persons¡¯.
An investigation into the matter is underway.
