A mysterious creature measuring 23-foot long has washed up on a Welsh beach, leaving experts baffled and scrapping for answers.
As per a report in Metro, the creature appeared on Broad Haven South beach in southwest Wales last week and initially left experts bewildered as to what it was. Measuring at 23-feet in length, the animal, which had clearly been dead for a while and had begun to decompose, was at first thought to be a whale.
Pictures taken of the creature at the beach show the size of the creature, with one image in particular showing something which on first glance looks like an object of some sort that had entered its body while in the sea.
As it turns out though, it happened to be one of the creature¡¯s vertebrae. What makes it ever more puzzling is the fact that the corpse is missing most of its head.

The finders reported it to the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP).
Matthew Westfield, the CSIP stranding co-ordinator for Wales, was quoted by Metro as saying: ¡°It¡¯s very difficult to tell for certain what it is because it¡¯s so badly decomposed."
¡°It died at sea and had been dead for a while before it washed up on the beach, so it would have come in with one of the high tides," he added.

No obvious feature of the creature¡¯s biology stands out, with the head seemingly gone and no limbs apparent. And though Westfield identified a spine, measuring some 23 feet long, even the animal¡¯s true scale is uncertain.
The experts after working with whatever little clues they had, think it could be a basking shark, but Westfield said he he still can¡¯t be sure.
¡°We couldn¡¯t say 100% because there are other species it could be, even including the whale shark ¨C which is actually a bit bigger but then it could have been a juvenile," he told the news outlet.
