UP: Tiger Miraculously Survives Being Pulled Under By Strong Current While Wading Through Swollen River
A tiger miraculously survived being swept underwater by forceful currents as it tried to cross the Gerua River in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.
A tiger miraculously survived being swept underwater by forceful currents as it tried to cross the Gerua River in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.
The video of the incident was posted by Indian Forest Service officer (IFS) Ramesh Pandey on Twitter. It showed the tiger struggling to stay afloat in the river, as the wild cat was caught in the current with waves splashing onto him.
Tiger survives strong river current
As per Pandey, the young tiger was trying to cross the river when he was flown up to the Girijapuri barrage in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh.

In the subsequent video, Pandey further showcased how the tiger made it safely back to the ground. The tiger was seen wading across the swollen river.
¡°However, the tiger being a powerful and great swimmer could cross the river against the current, and reached in jungles of Katerniaghat, part of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve,¡± the tweet read.

Tiger makes safe passage into jungle
Though the tiger was successful in its attempt to make a safe passage into the jungle, a rescue team still followed his path to ensure his safety.
¡°The team lead [sic] by Akash Deep Bhadhawan monitored the safe passage to tiger and other wildlife during high flood times in Katerniaghat. Monsoon in Terai is a tough time for protection and patrolling,¡± the officer tweeted.

People were relieved to see the tiger return safely back to the jungle. ¡°Relieved to see the tiger swim back to safety,¡± one user wrote. ¡°Tiger zinda hai," another user commented. ¡°Happy! Tiger is alive," a third user said.
