Diver Joachim Larssen was kayaking out on Hammerfest Bay in Norway when a beluga whale swam to the diver. The little whale called Hvaldimir is sort of a local celebrity and was around the diver to get his attention.
Keen to get some close up footage of the friendly sea creature, the diver went ahead, inside the water to get some shots.
Being the friendly whale that he is, Little Hvaldimir went towards the lens, posing, giving the diver some amazing shots. He looked into the camera, turned around, giving all the angles for a perfect photoshoot.
Hvaldimir moved too close to the camera and knocked it off the mount. The camera fell into the water. The GoPro then captured Hvaldimir grabbing it by mouth and bringing it back to the surface. Some believe that Hvaldimir did it on purpose.
Then he came back and gave it to Joachim who then pet him as he bobbed his head.
Joachim reportedly said, "I wanted to film him underwater and I think he knows what a GoPro is so he takes it from me and drops it before he goes down to get it for me.¡±
It is believed that Hvaldimir is so tame because he was trained to be a Russian spy.
