A woman has captured the terrifying moment lightning struck her husband's car on a highway in Florida, US.
Edward Whalen was driving down I-75 near St. Petersburg, Florida, on July 1 when a bolt of lightning hit his vehicle and sent sparks flying off its roof.
His wife,
Michaelle, who was travelling in a car behind Whalen, had been filming the thunderstorm outside and happened to capture the heart-stopping incident on camera.

In the shocking footage, Michaelle could be heard screaming as the bolt struck the truck causing flames and sparks to flash before her windscreen.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the strike, but Edward admitted the bolt left his truck 'completely fried'.
Recalling the incident, Whalen told WFLA News Channel 8: ¡°You could feel a slight buzz in the car when it hit us, and then my oldest daughter was sitting next to me and she jumped halfway in my lap and screamed."
He also revealed that he and his passengers were left 'really confused' and suffered 'bad headaches' after the loud strike.
Lightning strikes Toyota Prius
This isn't the first incident of its kind. Earlier in April, footage showed the moment a car was struck by lightning in the middle of a storm in the midwestern state of Iowa, USA.
Storm chaser Christopher Riske was driving in Gilmore, Iowa on April 12 when he just ¡°happened to be recording¡± as a bolt of lightning struck his friend¡¯s Toyota Prius.
He posted the video on YouTube and called it a ¡°once-in-a-life-time¡± shot. Riske added that his friend More Pi¡¯s car was immobilised and ¡°is still being worked on¡±. He wrote, ¡°It totally fried the Prius. He is currently stuck in Iowa. The car might be totaled.¡±
Pi was driving the Prius around while still inside it when the bolt struck. The moment was so quick that if someone blinked, they would miss the whole experience of the thunderbolt hitting the rear window of the car.
The video shows the astonishing moment in the original speed, and at 1/5th and 1/20th of normal speed. Sparks can be seen far more clearly dancing underneath the car right after lightning makes contact.
Recently, a terrifying incident from Massachusetts, U.S., came to 'light' where the roof of a house was struck by lightning.
