Exclusive: I am not happy with the way WWE has been booking Penta, says veteran writer

Penta was billed the ¡®next big thing¡¯ when he signed with the WWE earlier this year. The 40-year-old then put on a solid performance in the Royal Rumble Match 2025, indicating that he is here to stay. He then feuded with Ludwig Kaiser and The Judgement Day, emerging as a mainstay of the company¡¯s midcard scene. However, veteran writer Vince Russo is not happy about the way the Stamford-based promotion has booked him so far. He feels that WWE should have made him come across as more dominant.

Vince Russo does not ¡®like¡¯ the way Penta is being booked

Vince Russo, who was once an integral part of the WWE creative team, has slammed the company for not handling Penta properly. He feels that the booking has left a lot to be desired as the Mexican star has not been projected as a dominant force.

¡°I don't like the way they have been booking Penta AT ALL. Way too much 50/50 booking. He should be more dominant, in my opinion,¡± he told Indiatimes.

Penta put on a good show at the Royal Rumble 2025 but failed to go the distance as he was eliminated by Finn Balor. He then lost a ¡®Triple Threat¡¯ match against Ludwig Kaiser and Pete Dunne. He was also pinned by Balor in a tag match where he team up with Bron Breakker to take on the Irish star and Dominik Mysterio. Penta picked up a win over Dom on the latest episode of Raw but was left laying after a devastating spear from ¡®The Badass¡¯. He also received a beating from Balor¡¯s The Judgement Day after losing to Breakker by DQ in a match for the for the Young Steiner¡¯s Intercontinental title.

The road ahead

Looking ahead, Penta is set to compete at WrestleMania 41 for the first time in his career. He will be locking horns with Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and Bron Breakker in a ¡®Fatal 4 Way¡¯ for the Badass¡¯ IC title.

WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas on April 19 and April 20.
