Fortnite Games, in its latest development, has started taking legal action against an unnamed competitive player for cheating in its tournaments.
The step is being taken in response to a Fortnite player cheating during a tournament, and Epic Games doesn't want to take it lightly. To address the issue, Epic Games has restructured the rules for competing in the FCNS Divisional Cups and other tournaments in Fortnite, especially the ones that are played for cash prizes.
Currently, all the cash prizes are now at the highest levels of competitions, so players have to participate and go through multiple rounds before being able to compete for them.
Epic Games issues warning for Fortnite players
Additionally, Epic Games also warned its players that if someone is found teaming up with cheating in a tournament, they might face a minimum of a 28-day ban from the competition, and subsequently the duration will keep on increasing with every violation.

What does the banning of players mean in Fortnite tournaments?
According to the statement issued by Epic Games, if players face a competitive ban of 14 days or more, then they won't be able to compete in FCNS tournaments during that season or any season that the ban overlaps with.
Moreover, in the future, Epic Games is also planning to look into adding other requirements before being eligible to play the game.
How is Epic Games going to identify the cheaters?
According to Epic Games, to identify the cheaters in the game, they use a variety of methods, including:
- Anti-cheat services: Epic Games uses services like BattlEye to detect players who use external cheating to gain an advantage in the game.
- Epic Online Services: Epic Online Services provides several tools that help developers identify and remove cheaters from the tournaments.
Epic Games explicitly said that they are also ramping up legal action against both the players who cheat and the cheat sellers.
This week they have also filed a lawsuit against a player who cheated in a tournament, and Epic Games identified them to be using cheating software and hardware and tried to avoid getting caught by multiple accounts.
