'I kill you': Gautam Gambhir receives death threat via email from ¡®ISIS Kashmir¡¯ after Pahalgam terror attack; seeks protection

Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer and current head coach of Team India, has received a death threat via email from ¡®ISIS Kashmir¡¯ after the horrific terror attack in the city of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Gambhir received an email containing just three chilling words: ¡®I kill you,¡¯ reported India Today. Following the threat, the former cricketer reached out to the police and filed an official complaint to safeguard his family¡¯s security.
According to the news agency ANI, the former BJP MP and current head coach of Team India received a death threat from ¡®ISIS Kashmir.¡¯ On Wednesday, Gambhir approached the Delhi Police to file a formal complaint for an FIR, the office said.
Gautam Gambhir condemns the Pahalgam terror attack on social media
On Tuesday, Gambhir took to his X (formerly called Twitter) to condemn the terror attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. Marking one of the most severe incidents since the 2019 Pulwama attack, terrorists launched a deadly attack on the tourists at Baisaran meadow, leaving 26 civilians dead on Tuesday.
He shared a post, writing, "Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.¡±

Gambhir received the threat in the form of two emails on April 22, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening; both contained a chilling message saying, ¡®IKillU.¡¯
However, this is not the first time the 43-year-old has faced such threats. In November 2021, during his tenure as a sitting Member of Parliament, he received a similar email.
Gautam Gambhir seeks immediate protection for his family¡¯s security
Gambhir had recently visited France with his family for a holiday and was back in the country earlier this month. The current Team India head coach has been away from the limelight after India¡¯s Champions Trophy win in March. After receiving the death threat, the former cricketer sought immediate action and protection for his family's security.
Gautam Gambhir was appointed as Team India¡¯s head coach in July 2024, replacing Rahul Dravid, his World Cup-winning forerunner.
