Watch: Agitated Elephant Charges Towards Bus & Breaks Its Windshield While The Driver Keeps His Calm
The driver tried to reverse the bus but the agitated animal began to chase the bus. The jumbo then rammed its tusks into the windshield of the bus, leading it to crack.
It is pretty common to have an encounter with wild animals on the main roads of Southern Indian forests. However, a hair raising video shows an encounter going a little too far.
A video that is now going viral shows the moment an angry elephant charged at a bus in Tamil Nadu, shattering its windshield. The incident took place on Saturday morning while the state-owned bus was ferrying government employees from Kotagiri to Mettupalayam.
However, the bus driver can be seen taking control of the situation and remaining calm.
The driver tried to reverse the bus but the agitated animal began to chase the bus. The jumbo then rammed its tusks into the windshield of the bus, leading it to crack. The driver sat calmly in his seat. The elephant smashed the glass again while blocking the bus' path as passengers gasped in the background.
Tamil Nadu Principal Secretary (Environment and Forests) Supriya Sahu shared the video, lauding the bus driver for maintaining his composure and not letting the matter escalate. ¡°Huge respect for the driver of this Government bus in Nilgiris who kept his cool even under the terrifying hits on the bus from an agitated tusker. He helped passengers move back safely,¡± Sahu wrote, adding, ¡°That¡¯s why they say a cool mind works wonders.¡±

A question to be raised. Are we doing proper in invading the places/ forests where animals live for which they are compelled to move towards cities in search of food. Need to let the animals live in their zone

Someone outside the bus also shared the other angle of this entire incident. The person mentioned that the bus driver tried to bypass the elephant but that got the tusker triggered. He said, "Initially he presumed he can bypass tusker and carry on..jumbo got triggered."
