Former co-founder and managing director of the Indian banking company BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, made a video rant. Grover, who connected with the public while being on the reality television show Shark Tank India as one of the judges, criticised the tax system in his most emotional speech, explaining how government employees effectively work just five months out of the year due to excessive taxation. Ravisutanjani has shared the video on his Twitter handle with the caption, "Income Tax Payers Pays upto 18% GST too on spends after paying 10-35% Taxes They Contribute to Nation Building, But this is also Harsh Reality."

Grover added that paying taxes is the same as doing charity and that out of the 12 months, we labour for a living, 4 months are spent working for the government. "You work for the government for five months out of a year when you know I'll get Rs 10 and the government will keep Rs 4." How long do you have to labour as a slave for the government? "This is how things are, and we all accept it," Grover added.

The former Shark Tank India judge argued that because company owners are aware of this, they do not pay taxes, unlike salaried workers, who have no option because the tax is withdrawn immediately at the source as TDS.

In India, Ashneer Grover's impassioned diatribe over taxes has become a rallying cry for reform.
