The group had placed an ad seeking a few neighbourhood net bowlers. They also discovered one, much to everyone's astonishment! All due to a Chennai-based Swiggy delivery manager.
He has been chosen as one of the team's four net bowlers. After placing second in the World Cup qualifying matches, the Netherlands qualified for the World Cup.
Where is he from?
Lokesh Kumar, a left-arm wrist-spin bowler, is a 29-year-old former left-arm pacer. During the training in Bengaluru, he was chosen to bowl at the batters from the Netherlands.
He remarked, "This is one of the most precious moments of my career," in a statement to the Times of India. "The TNCA third division league is where I have yet to even compete."
Explaining the entire process, he said, ¡°After seeing the advertisement, I was keen to give it a try. I felt that I would have an edge over others as there are not many wrist spin bowlers in the country. The Netherlands were on the lookout for a mystery spinner and I ticked that box. So, I decided to give it a try.¡±
How did he get selected?
Lokesh mentioned that he applied for the position because of his left-arm wrist spin bowling ability. The official anthem for the Cricket World Cup 2023 has now been unveiled by the International Cricket Council.
Its cast includes Jatin Sapru, a sports broadcaster, Dhanashree Verma, a wife of an Indian cricketer named Yuzvendra Chahal, and Bollywood star Ranveer Singh.
