Zomato Restores Bengaluru Woman's Food Poisoning Review; CEO Deepinder Goyal Thanked Reviewer

Recently, Zomato faced a lot of backlash after a woman from Bengaluru shared a screenshot of her review getting deleted by the online food delivery app. This woman, named Disha Sanghvi, claimed that she had suffered severe food poisoning after eating at a restaurant in Koramangala.

Deepinder Goyal responds to woman's Zomato removing review complaint

Now, the CEO of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal, has responded to the woman's complaint about how the app removed her negative review. The man took to his Twitter account to respond. He wrote, "Hi @DishaRSanghvi ¨C this "policy" within our content guidelines is a result of (legal) overthinking, and we have removed this policy with immediate effect. We have also reinstated your review already. Thank you for bringing this to our notice and influencing positive change."

In a subsequent response, he hoped that the woman was feeling better and asked her to take care of her health.

This woman, named Disha, had shared her experience on Twitter. She had mentioned that she wasn¡¯t the only person who ended up facing a health crisis after eating at the said food outlet. She also found several others who had a similar experience in the last few months.

"A recent visit to a restaurant in Koramangala, B'lore (sic) left my colleague and me with a severe case of food poisoning," the marketing and communications professional had tweeted. "I wrote a review on (it) and while doing so, found that many people had a similar experience in the last few months."

She had even shared the screenshot of the email she had received from Zomato. In the email, Zomato claimed that it isn't the correct platform for reporting a health code violation.

"At Zomato, we conduct regular checks on the reviews published on our platform and within these checks, we noticed that the said review is in violation of our content guidelines. Thus, it has been pulled down on grounds of mentioning health code violations," the company wrote.
