Jharkhand Family Celebrates Pet Dog's 1st Birthday With Grand Gathering
In a recent viral video, a family from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, celebrated the birthday of their pet dog named Oscar. The family took the event pretty seriously and invited over 350 people to the grand birthday celebration. Like every other big celebration in Desi households, relatives from all around India were invited through printed invitation cards. The birthday boy was dressed to the nines in a Rs. 4500 gown.
The guest list not only included people attending the party from nearby villages but also from Bengal¡¯s Sripur, who travelled quite the distance for Oscar¡¯s birthday. Following the traditional route, the guests also brought gifts for him, including three gold lockets. Before jumping into the classic cake-cutting ceremony, an aarti was performed to bless the dog.
Aarti Was Performed To Bless Dog Before Cutting Cake
The viral video captured seconds from the whole party as people surrounded the birthday boy and his parents around a giant cake. In the video, a woman, presumably the mom, is seen coddling the dog as she plants kisses on him while a man props the dog up. A locket is tied across Oscar¡¯s neck as people cheer for him on his big day.
The cake is no ordinary feat, as the family has put in extra effort to make it personal for the dog by adding photos made of icing on the surface. Behind them is an elaborate collage filled with more photos of Oscar with the family. The centre of the collage reads, "1st Birthday Celebration OSCAR." Meanwhile, the staging area is decorated with a ton of balloons and other decorations.

The parents of the dog, Sumitra Kumari and Sandeep Kumari, shared how they consider Oscar a part of their family. Sandeep told India Today, "I used to work in Punjab, where I used to see how the people used to treat dogs there. We also got attached to animals and we found a 20-day-old puppy on the roadside and brought it home. Today, we celebrated our birthday with great pomp."
People on the internet shared pictures of their own adorable pets on the Twitter thread in response to the big celebration.
