Forget Resumes, This Girl's Internship Application To Zomato Will Even Get Your Creative Juices Flowing

If you are trying to land an internship, this story might inspire you to get your creative juices flowing. Dikshita Basu wanted to apply for an internship with Zomato, and decided to test out her creativity while sending in her resume.

Her creativity was appreciated so much that she received a response from a top executive at the company.

Basu is a computer science and engineering student at Tamil Nadu's Sathyabama University. She is interested in product, and so while applying for the internship with the food delivery app, she suggested some changes that could improve the user experience instead of listing out her own qualifications like people usually do.

Her "Valentine Special Internship Proposal" for Zomato included a presentation in which she listed out some issues with Zomato's app design and their solutions - like re-positioning the "Drafts" folder or improving user flow while uploading pictures. She also suggested a new concept called "Zomato Zing" - 15-second videos of food that can be used to place orders or book a table if they so catch the customer's fancy.

Her presentation consisted of skilled illustrations.

"This Valentine's Day I want to ask Zomato out, for an Internship. So, to apply... I thought to curate something that is worthwhile," Ms Basu wrote while sharing her job application on LinkedIn. She also tagged Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal, Zomato's CEO of Food Delivery Rahul Ganjoo and Zomato Design Lead Vijay Verma in her post.

Her application went viral on the portal with 8,000 likes and hundreds of comments. It also caught the attention of Mr Ganjoo, who promised that the company would get in touch with her.

"Appreciate the effort Dikshita Basu! We'll be in touch shortly," he wrote in the comments section.

Vijay Verma also responded to the post with "Great work".

Others also left kind words under her post. One user wrote, "Brilliant Dikshita Basu; Whether Zomato bites or not, you have a bright future as a practicing designer indeed. Just stay focused, stay humble and keep sharpening your craft - the universe will conspire to put you in the right place(s) at the right time(s)."

"As I compare this to my engineering days, you guys are way ahead Dikshita Basu I am super proud to see the new generation being bold and going beyond the obvious. India is indeed in safe hands and these youths will soon rule the world," wrote another user.

Last year, a 21-year-old from Mumbai landed an internship at CRED with the help of his 3D video with which he applied to the company.
