I¡¯m afraid, K Sivan missed a trick here. He¡¯s an Indian only because of his Tamil identity and apparently, that¡¯s his primary identity. There¡¯s no specific identity called Indian identity. The conglomerate of Tamils, Kannadigas, Telugus and others is the Indian identity. pic.twitter.com/3nPbd6qDWg

The 62-year-old man behind India's space program was born to a simple farmer in the village of Tarakkanvillai in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district. He went to a local Tamil medium government school, where he showed brilliance his family thankfully recognized.
Sivan was the first among his family members to ever graduate, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from ST Hindu College in Nagercoil.
Over the years, Sivan has earned numerous accolades for his contributions to ISRO. In 1999 he was given the Shri Hari Om Ashram Prerit Dr Vikram Sarabhai Research Award. He received the ISRO Merit Award in 2007, the Dr. Biren Roy Space Science Award in 2011, and most recently Tamil Nadu's Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award in 2019.
