The coronavirus pandemic has put everyone in one of the most unanticipated and bizarre scenarios, one that many don¡¯t know how to cope with.
For most, the worst part is being cut off from the people they love. Millions of travellers found themselves unable to get home as travel bans come into force. Border checks across states have come in between families that wish to be united.
While for most it¡¯s a near helpless situation, others are determined to keep their loved ones as close to them as possible. Like this doctor from Jharkhand who decided to risk the janata curfew that was imposed on March 22, and drove all the way to Rajasthan to bring his daughter home.
According to a TOI report, the unnamed doctor drove non-stop for 50 hours, covering around 2,500km to Rajasthan to take his daughter back home. His daughter was enrolled in an institute in Kota and was preparing for her medical entrance exams.
But for the 49-year-old nothing mattered more than the safety of his daughter. After he took off from home, he apparently drove continuously without stopping at any point for a break. He said that was the only way he could make in time for work at the hospital.
What¡¯s even more inspiring is that as soon as he got back, he resumed his work as a doctor in the ongoing crisis. Speaking to TOI, his daughter said that she was lucky to have a ¡®super dad¡¯ who braved everything and drove through high-risk states to get her back.
"We didn't waste a moment. We ate the food he was carrying and made our way back to Bokaro. This journey that my father and I made will be an abiding memory," she told TOI.
Speaking to TOI, the doctor said that he passed through the states of Bihar, UP and MP to reach Rajasthan and he got a reality check of the lockdown that has imposed across the country.
According to him barring good trucks there was almost no traffic on the road and except police personnel no one was to be seen roaming about, except in UP¡¯s Mirzapur area where he spotted a few people out in the open.
Perhaps the most shocking things he noticed on the way was that cops at checkpoints in MP had no protective gear on. In a bid to spread awareness and keep people on the way safe, the doctor was mindful to keep extra supplies of masks and hand sanitisers that he could distribute to people who needed them.
