Lakhs Of Devotees Create A Human Corridor To Make Way For Ambulance, During Puri Rath Yatra

When an ambulance is alerted for an emergency, the driver has to rush the vehicle to the spot as soon as possible. But, navigating through jam-packed roads and huge crowds, is no mean feat.

A few days ago, close to two million people hit the streets to call on the Hong Kong government to withdraw the controversial extradition bill, according to its organisers. By night, demonstrators occupied roads around government headquarters and legislature.

But, Hong Kong gave the world proof of its exceptional civic sense and made way for an ambulance in the most organised way possible. The ambulance was carrying a protester who had collapsed while protesting.

As and when the ambulance appeared in the middle of the road, they made way for it without any sign of chaos or resistance. Many even compared the scene with the parting of the Red Sea, a biblical tale.

Now, in a remarkable feat, around 1200 volunteers and lakhs of devotees at the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra on July 4, got together to create a human corridor for safe passage for an ambulance that was trying to get through.

The video was shared from the Twitter handle of Puri SP, and it did not take much time to go viral. People were amazed and pleasantly surprised to see the ambulance sailing through the massive crowd.

The way all the volunteers managed to let the ambulance pass through smoothly without any problems was just brilliant.

A similar incident also took place in 2016 in Pune during Ganesh Visarjan, when the crowd came to a standstill as soon as an ambulance was heard wailing in the background. The people completely stopped the music and made way for the ambulance to pass through.

Another incident occurred in Kerala, where people were celebrating the annual festival of Mannarkkad Pooram - one of the biggest temple festivals in the region - when an ambulance tried to cross. Within minutes the crowd parted to make way for the ambulance.

Such incidents are proof of our human side - the fact that we can still empathise and care enough to do the right thing, even if it might seem almost impossible.
