A man's life turned around when he hastily bought an entire house he had never even seen before. According to reports, Alex Archbold has been in the business of buying and selling antiques. He set his foot in the business at the tender age of nine. Thanks to years of experience, he developed a knack for treasure hunting even for things people considered trash.
Since he acquired this property, he has amassed thousands of pounds worth of rare and highly collectable pieces.
A house owner with a hoarding habit passed away in December 2020, and it gave Alex the opportunity to buy the house, including the contents inside of it for ?7,331 (Rs 7,64,255).
Alex came across treasures inside the hoarder's house that were worth more than what he paid for the house. Alex documented the entire process on his YouTube channel.
In his video, Alex explains: "The person who lived here was really into fashion so there is a really good chance that some of these items may be designer."
He ended up coming across a lot of vintage Tiffany jewellery, Chanel clothing and Burberry boxes.
"Look at the dust," he says as makes his way through the hoarder's collection. The video shows a treasure trove of boxes, trinkets and bag stacked floor to ceiling in every room.
He continues to say: "So, this is going to be an exploration - going through all of this stuff. That's what we're all about here."
The late woman's wardrobe was full of designer clothes, and some of his most impressive finds were 'wallets full of cash, a 100-ounce silver bar, and bags full of gold and diamond rings', he told Bored Panda.
Despite the contents of the house being decades old, Alex was sure that the items would have real, monetary value today. After sorting them out, Alex has estimated that after purchasing the home for ?7,331, he has now made over "?293,270 (Rs 3,05,70,200) after all is said and done after three auctions of the contents and treasures."
"This was the best investment I have made to date," he announced.
He honoured the late homeowner and called her a 'fun, patient and well travelled' lady. He also decided to keep the grand piano that was the first thing that attracted him towards buying the house in order to continue her memory.
