US: Man Wins Rs 1.5 Crore Lottery After Wife Sends Him To Grocery Store?

A man's trip to the grocery store turned out to be a life-changing one as he ended up winning $190,736 (Rs 1.5 crore) in the lottery.

Preston Maki, 46, told Michigan Lottery officials that he has his wife to thank for the big prize as it wouldn't have been possible without her message.

Maki had bought a Fantasy 5 ticket from the Meijer store on his way home from work, and that won him the prize. He matched all five winning numbers drawn that evening: 05-12-16-17-29, WLUC reported.

"I was finishing up my day at work when my wife sent me a text message asking me to make a stop for groceries on my way home. I usually don't play Fantasy 5 unless the jackpot is more than $200,000, but I saw it was close and decided to buy five easy picks," Maki told Michigan Lottery.

He checked the ticket the next day and was in for a shock.

"The next morning, I was in the kitchen and scanned the ticket with the Lottery's mobile app and saw I was the jackpot winner! Winning is so unimaginable," he said.

Maki won the $190,736 jackpot. He said he plans to share his winnings with his family and make some investments.

Man wins Rs 79 lakh after unknowingly entering draw

Earlier, a man in Michigan, U.S., unknowingly entered into a lottery's second chance game and ended up walking away with $100,000 (Rs 79.55 lakh) jackpot.

The 58-year-old Oakland County man, who chose to remain anonymous, won $100,000 on the $300,000,000 Diamond Riches Second Chance Drawing, the top prize for the game.

He told Michigan Lottery officials that he had bought a few tickets. He used the lottery's app to scan a few non-winning cards without realising he was setting himself up for a jackpot.

The man said that he was confused when he received an email informing him that he had won $100,000 in the Diamond Riches Second Chance drawing.
